At the start of each school year, children in foster care are often given a standard-issue school bag by the state. Sadly, in many schools, these bags are labeled by peers as “welfare bags,” creating unnecessary stigma and adding to the stress these children already face.

Our Backpack Program changes that narrative. We provide foster children with stylish, high-quality backpacks filled with essential school supplies—everything they need to begin the school year on the right foot.

This program is about more than supplies; it’s about dignity and confidence. By giving each child a backpack they can be proud of, we help level the playing field, reduce social stigma, and promote healthy self-esteem.
